Toddler tantrums are the worst. Don’t put yourself between a rock and a hard place. Tantrums happen more often when a child is tired or hungry and if you want them to function in a non-child-friendly place, like a grocery store or a restaurant with grownup diners. They don’t happen because a child is being bad, they happen because a child is overwhelmed. Some children handle those feelings better than others. But where as you can’t change your child’s temperament, you CAN plan around what you know will work for them. So skip the trendy french restaurant. There’s plenty of time for them to eat fancy and not a whole lot to gain from being miserable . . . and then having to pay the bill.
